MMM Firmian – fascinating Dolomites
The Messner Mountain Museum in Firmiano/Firmian near Bolzano/Bozen is part of the five museums created by Reinhold Messner. Each of his museums focuses on a different aspect - the one in Firmiano/Firmian at Sigmundskron Castle near Bolzano/Bozen has as its main topic the relationship between man and mountain. A number of viewpoints give visitors the chance to admire the stunning Dolomites peaks during their visit. The rest of the museum exhibits works of art and relics which tell of the historical significance of the mountains.
Trostburg Castle at the entrance of the Dolomites
Just above Ponte Gardena/Waidbruck, you can find Trostburg Castle, one of South Tyrol's most famous and best-conserved castles. Today the Castle is home to the South Tyrolean Castle Museum and its institute. Its exterior is truly spectacular, and inside its walls you can embark on a remarkable journey through time. Trostburg Castle dates back to the 12th century, and is also known as the place of birth of the legendary troubadour Oswald von Wolkenstein.

South Tyrolean tradition at the farmers' market
A number of weekly markets in and around Siusi/Seis sell regional products to visitors as well as locals. From early June to the end of October, the traditional farmers' market takes place every Tuesday in the village center of Siusi/Seis, and every Friday in Castelrotto/Kastelruth. Here farmers and merchants sell their home-made farm products such as eggs, cheese or fresh bread, as well as sweet pastries.
Pflegerhof – herbs from the Dolomites
The organic Pflegerhof farm is located in San Osvaldo/St. Oswald near Siusi/Seis. The farm has dedicated itself to the cultivation of herbs. The farm produces 500 different kinds of plants and herbs, making it the first organic herb farm in South Tyrol. You can buy plants for your own garden or try cosmetic products, teas and other herbal products. At Pflegerhof farm in the Dolomites you can also take part in guided tours of the 40 acres of farmland.
