Sights around the Alpe di Siusi

Join us on an excursion!

What do you fancy doing today? A bit of culture and tradition. Perhaps you’re also interested in history or architecture. The five towns around the Alpe di Siusi have a lot to offer. We’ve put together a list of our favourite things to do in Siusi allo Sciliar and the neighbouring villages:

Laghetto di Fiè

What an undertaking it must have been back then, the Laghetto di Fiè was created as a fish pond in the 16th century. It is strictly forbidden to cast a fishing rod here today, but plunging into the cool water yourself is expressly permitted. On warm summer days, the pine-fringed pond is one of the most popular places to visit around the Alpe di Siusi.

The Castel Trostburg

South Tyrol should actually be called “the Land of Castles”. Hardly any other castles, manors and fortresses are as beautiful as ours. The Castel Trostburg near Ponte Gardena, which once belonged to the lords of Castelrotto, is certainly worth a visit and will transport you back to the time of Oswald von Wolkenstein in no time.

Oswald von Wolkenstein Ride

It is a gigantic spectacle, a festival for horse lovers, a tribute to medieval jousting and a valuable piece of South Tyrolean folk culture. The horse show in honour of the famous minstrel has been held every year on the Alpe di Siusi since 1983. An early summer festival filled with joie de vivre.

MMM Firmiano

The Messner Mountain Museum at Castel Firmiano is located south of Bolzano and explores the interrelationship between man and mountain in an innovative way. A contrast-filled experience for mountain lovers, the inquisitive and fans of mountaineering legend Reinhold Messner.

Farmer’s markets

Eggs, cheese, bacon, bread, fresh fruit and vegetables – the farmers of the Alpe di Siusi do their utmost to tempt you with their tasty delicacies. Regular weekly markets take place in Siusi allo Sciliar, Castelrotto and Fiè during the summer months. An excellent opportunity to get to know the real taste of South Tyrol.

The Pflegerhof organic herb farm

He was the first herb farmer in South Tyrol who dared to go “organic”. Today, the Mulser family farm is a haven of colours, scents and flavours. In picturesque Sant’Osvaldo near Castelrotto, all kinds of delectable and beneficial goodies are made from alpine herbs. Visitors with green fingers will simply love the farm shop and nursery.

Castel Prösels

Concerts and exhibitions, weddings or film shoots. There is always something going on at Castel Prösels in Fiè allo Sciliar. The beautiful complex was built around 1200. 400 years later, Leonhard von Fiè transformed the castle into a Renaissance dream. And it has remained so to this day.
